The National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST) spotlights the nation’s top schools that achieve exceptional academic results. Through the America's Best School Award, NCUST rewards outstanding schools and studies their successes. Our America's Best Schools Symposium provides a showcase for our award winners and offers compelling evidence that schools in some of the nation’s poorest neighborhoods are changing students’ lives.

Educators attending the Symposium become convinced that we have no good excuses for settling for lower levels of academic results. For many educators, the symposium is an important first step in the journey to academic excellence. Frequently school and district teams exit the symposium with specific plans regarding how they will break down barriers to achievement, build a data-focused, collaborative learning community, and enable all students to learn.

NCUST Executive Coaches will lead guided visits to high-performing urban schools in the San Diego area. Buses leave from the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley in the morning and return by 3:30 PM. School site visits are optional.
